Non-illuminated individual letters are as simple as stud mounting them and concealing a LED light source behind the letters to create a `halo`effect.

The conventional sign box is most commonly used in illuminated signage. Durable sign boxes can be built geometrically or carefully manufactured to form fit any letter shape or pattern. They can be used in almost any environment and be single or double sided for maximum visibility. Depending on shape and location large signs of up to 16’ 2’’ tall (without seaming) can be accommodated using flexible sign face material complete with SignComp framing hardware holding the sign face secure even under extreme wind pressure. Tough polycarbonates such as Lexan, or the more traditional Acrylic plastic are the most commonly used substrates. The sign box is internally lit using either high output fluorescent lamps, or LED lighting. LEDs are available in a variety of colours. Even in this application Signex has gone to the forefront with Electronic Power Smart Ballasts and 10 year guaranteed lexan.
In the case of sign cabinets, this generally means a rectangular or simple shape that has a rigid sign face, common retainer extrusion, sheet metal box and T12 illuminated. For a formed cabinet, most of the materials are the same but it can have a flexible sign face or alternative illumination methods. Mostly vinyl graphics are applied to the face in both cases.
Benefits:
Economical and energy efficient. This is the most common type of illuminated signage.
